Hi all,
is there a help file on how to read CAS4 with the new HW4 on the bench or in the car.
All keys are lost,

Hi,

no they say HW4 has not activated the BDM for cas4 as yet. i know it says on the website HW4 supports it. that is the reason i have upgraded to hw4 to have all round solution, but now i need to buy another bdm programmer for 1000euro aswell. if somebody can give a awenser when it will be activated that would help?

I am interested in this feature as well. And the reason why I have not updated to HW4 as yet is that it still doesn't support CAS4 BDM read yet!

No need for a $1000 programmer. VVDI Prog is $400 and works just fine.

BDM job is mainly added to our hardware for future use especially for VAG software. It will take time to make the BDM firmware and make it ready.

Indeed,on blog was stated that HW4 will be a complete solution for bmw, covering all cas by bdm. You should be feeling deceived.

I know the advertising is not right..... plus paying a yearly fee of 750us is alot of money.
with the vvdi prog can it read the 1N35H aswell and how trusting is this item?

i only read 3 5m48h and all went okay. 1n35h is reported to work just as well. i did a lot on forum digging and there is no report that i could find about busting any cas4+ so i think if you are careful with soldering and bdm, and run first backup option you should be fine

I have few programmer for CAS. (UPA-S, VVDI, SMOK J-TAG, XPROG, ETL, MRppad)
I have programmed many CASs and I recommend MRppad.
X-prog, SMOK J-TAG not safe.
UPA-S - unstable.
ETL - it's safe but time-consuming (need desolder mcu)
VVDI is ok but sometimes he likes p-flash damage when you crack mcu.
But this is not big problem.
MRppad - for me is the Best, no need desolder any components!
Safe and stable.

i read about MRppad, it says that is the best but is a little bit expensive, 2000eur or so. thank you for vvdi advice. i guess if i make dflash and pflash backup before craking i should be safe?

Yes. Option read backup is safe and for programming the keys is enough.
The risk is only at the crack mcu. If he doesn't crack the first time you have a damaged p-flash.
Always the same part of p-flash. From 0FFC80 to end 0FFFFF the same like on a picture.

I make a lot of cas4 with VVDI, i think it's the best tool to read cas4. And is cheaper,around 450usd. If you read backup before, then you make anything you want
