Hi everyone,
I need to purchase another tool that can clone ecu's. I mostly interested in cloning, not mods. It will likely be Hexprog, but have a few questions.
- Is there a list of ecu's that can be cloned?
- Looking official videos, looks like there's a backup and restore feature, is that the ecu's that are cloneable, that's the procedure with Hexprog?
- Does Hexprog support merging files (OTP ecu's), like some tools do with VAG, BMW and Benz?

thank you

Hi
It is possible to clone most of the ECUs by just making backup and restore button in hexprog. Some ECUs require to use clone button to clone normally to as not to lose the tricore password. For VAG and some Mercedes ECUs that have immo in otp portion it cannot be cloned 1:1 in that case once after transferring files it is required to make immo off or immo sync. Most of the Mercedes ECUs and BMW ECUS can be cloned direct. At the moment we are adding more and more ECUs in updates so we don't have the exact list that you have requested.

Thanks so much.
So, if the ECU has the Backup-Restore function listed as an option , does that mean it's ECU that can be cloned 1:1 , without any extra work?

Thanks

As like we explained before VAG ecus and some rare merc ecus need immo off or immo sync after transferring data, most of the ecus can be cloned with backup and restore options. Some ecus have clone option it is required to backup both ecu and then use clone button to clone the ecu.
