Hi ,
As I understand most VAG ECU's has OTP portion but some doesn't . So the main point of this thread is for us Hextag users to share which VAG ECU's can be cloned successfully without the need of doing Immo sync / Immo off after cloning .

I personally have successfully cloned

Car Model :V/W Passat 2.0 TSI
Year :2011
ECU HW : 06J 907 309 B MED 17.5.2

hopefully we can all share to make our jobs easier .

many thanks and cheers

UNsuccessfull cloning 17C54 VW Crafter

It looks like it works, but if i read afterwards the new ECU the data was not the same...
i tryed to do it with backup and restore, and with advanced mode, same result, the p-flash data is different.
After all i get it to work by removing the tricore cpu from the defective ECU and put it in the new one..

MED17 EDC17 VAG ECUs cannot be directly cloned. You need to read both ECUs and adapt data from original to replacement. Then write modified files.

OTP portion will not be transferred that's why the difference in P-flash , you need to either do IMMO OFF or need to sync IMMO. you can send file for IMMO OFF from our online service portal.

well, from now on, i just transfer the tricore chip from the old ECU to another ECU because those chips are mostly not defective.
Works all the time...

to much work, move immo dat is much easyer
also you can have errors if you dont resolder correct and even then after customer is away it can go bad, seen it, done it, immo move is solution

here is a other pointer, immo level WFS4, WFS5 can be cloned by merging immo data, WFS6 and up NOT
ALSO you need SAME donor so HW BUILD, BOSCH number must match

in short for example, HW18 to HW25 does only work if you do "update" SVM coding online else car will start but with ecu errors

Just in case you consider Porche as part of VAG like many people, I tried cloning on SDI7 ECU and did not work due to OTP. Seems like Immo OFF is not possible neither, so if anyone find a solution for this case, please advise.

just some info.
I have tried many tools/Software for Vag range of Ecu's all the programmers say yes they can clone this ecu Bosch Edc17c46 & while doing the procedure on the Bench
it says successful ? But when connected back to the vehicle it either wont crank over ( depending on which programmer ), but if it does start the Dashboard instrument displays immo active , and yes it Has otp. so that leaves Immo Off , I've not tried any ecu work with Hexprog/ or ll.
Do you have any advice to remove checksum from Ecu. Edc17c46 as i have one with checksum althought the programmer was supposed to do checksum correction
on flash and eeprom.

read the tread again, also success full writing does not mean its working in the car, also dont bother with CS as your doing work for nothing
