I've cloned a customers MINI MEVD17.2.7 engine ecu as we believe it's faulty. Connected to the ecu using boot mode and the tricore cables. Performed a backup of the original ecu and then restored it to the replacement donor ecu (which we sourced with exactly the same part numbers). Once fitted onto the vehicle the newly cloned ecu just cranks over and won't start. There is one fault code that shows up on the diagnostic that can't be cleared. The fault code is "2DDF Valvetronic and fuel injection relays, supply voltage: Short circuit to earth" I'm not certain but am assuming this could be the reason for it not starting and just cranking over. The original ecu does still start the car is just runs rough when it starts.

Does anyone have any idea what might be the issue and how we can fix it? any input would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

if you cloned it correctly i guess your donor have HW errors

also when ever you clone, read the cloned again and compare files to ori first

also no injector relay is no fuel so no start

Thank you for both for your replies. I sourced another DDE with the same exact part number as the original and then used the restore feature from the data I'd already backed up from the original unit. Fitted the donor ecu and the vehicle now starts and runs like a dream! So must've been an issue with the first donor ecu as you both said. All working as it should once again, very happy.
