hello
I am new to the forum and have had Autohex for couple of months now and have completed many jobs without issue
today I am having a problem reading the ISN from a D60M47A0 ECU i have attempted to read this on the vehicle which is a 118d E87 and on the bench with the same results the message I am getting when reading the ISN is DME/DDE isn error please contact Microtronik
I can communicate to the ecu and read fault codes ok also updated software and coded the ecu
the original ecu from this vehicle is damaged and unreadable so I need to replace it with a unit the customer has supplied it is a matching part number unit
this unit has a bosch number of 0 281 013 502 BMW no. 7 803 372
I also have a bosch 0 281 012 501 which is a spare I had in stock I have trial fitted this to the vehicle read the ISN from it written this ISN to CAS and the vehicle starts and runs but cannot leave on the vehicle as gives errors for turbocharger actuator so is incompatible
any help would be greatly appreciated

Problem sorted out through skype thanks for the help
part number BMW 7 803 372 not supported but another supported part number has been given BMW 7 808 124 I will look for a replacement with this number

but could anyone explain to me why the first number is not supported both BMW part numbers have the same Bosch part number of 0 281 013 502
just so I know for next time as at the moment it does not make sense to me that I can read the ISN on one ECU but not the other when both have the same Bosch number am I missing something ?

Yes is was sorted thank you very much the question was just because I did not understand why two ecu's with the same bosch number one I can read isn and but not on the other is this due to different software on the ecu ?
It was only for future reference I thought by asking I may learn something to stop me making the same mistake again

The problem was fixed by using a different part number ecu that was supported by Autohex part no. 7 808 124
read isn and written to cas with no problems
this problem as far as I can see only affects e.c.u for 118d and 318d around 2006 year
just for my own investigation I tried 3 more e.c.u's but from 120d and 320d models of similar year and read isn from all of them
I had done a couple of 320d e90 ecu replacements myself without issue and presumed that if I could do one I could do them all
I suppose there will always be an exception to the rule
I am fairly new to this software and still have a lot to learn but thanks to the support team my problem was rectified easily

Its good to know you came right on that car,for the issue you got on first dme as i said before certain dme/dde models specially dde in old cars before 2006 we can't read isn in all part numbers, only some specified numbers is supported .In that case you will get message in Autohex isn manager option 1 ECU not supported.

Would it work if you clone the ecu and then read isn since hardware is same?

probably that too will work if hardware same.
