In order to code Kombi, the CAs from the same car needs to be present. It won't code if the CAs vin and Kombi vin is different.

Are you doing a retrofit or is someone sending you a Kombi for coding?

Its for M3 clocks to go into 335 but dont fancy opening clocks outside customers house so have brought them back to do by eeprom on bench,
more for future reference now, so I could change vin in cas on car to match clocks, code clocks then change cas vin back and it will be all good?

Make sure kombi has a lower mileage than car.

To change the kombi you will need to change vin and mileage in eeprom in the donor kombi. Reset mileage to 0km and wipe old vin. then when you will install the kombi it will take the mileage from the cas. after you will need to code it and it will take the new vin. I use r270 to do that

Hi BMWorkshop,
Im using r270 but it wont correct miles telling me I need to erase first 32 bytes first, is this because im reading on board?
have corrected vin just fine, just cant get my head around the write fail for miles reset, so much conflicting details on the net.

change first two rows of the code into "00". this will set mileage to 0
It should work on board. make sure you have a good connection. if it doenot work remove the chip and edit it then

You have to set the kms/miles to zero .. using r270 .. or similar you cannot manually set it to 00 00 ... after that you can write the km/miles to it

Always set the mileage to 30-50 kms or miles never leave it at 0 as the r270 can be buggy and it will display big miles if you try to reset it to 0
use the tools to reset it in r270 dont delete bits manually for mileage as i see this causes errors when writing back to eeprom

In E series coding is enought to change vin. If not do coding and programing.

Having a mare,
got chassis in but when coding it comes up with errors: "dont know how to calculate function CSUM_ECO_VAR" and "dont know how to calculate function CSUM_ECO_KL" then
"failed to encode module error ref 8111" ,ileage is fine as its a lower mileage kombi and has taken cas mileage. any ideas?

Good for you. I was speaking from my experience,i have tried to set all to zero but fails to write and verify so i just set to 50 miles and all is good maybe your r270 is better than mine.

Hello guys,

I am new to this and I am buying Autohex to start working professionally.

I am aware you cannot change VIN or mileage for a used KOMBI through Autohex and you guys are using R270 thus I will buy one, does any one know a good website or store to buy one from ? and maybe a usage manual or basic instructions ?

Thank you people 🙂
