Good morning, guys. I’m stopping by to ask if there’s a video tutorial out there—or if anyone has one saved—on how to properly use HexProg 2 to clone or tune the ECM (if tuning is an option). I’m asking because I’m basically new to using HexProg, and I’ve done several ECM “clones,” but for some reason they don’t work right. sometimes the cars won’t start, or something goes wrong. So I want to know if I’m doing something wrong and if there are some steps I’m missing. I’ve tried searching for videos on YouTube, but I can’t find anything official or specific. If anyone could help me with this, I’d really appreciate it.

The normal procedure for cloning most ECUs is to first make a backup of both the original and donor ECUs, then restore the original ECU backup to the donor ECU.

However, for some ECUs, particularly Continental ECUs, you must use the Clone function to preserve the Tricore password during the cloning process. In this case, make backups of both ECUs first, then connect the original ECU and click Clone. The software will prompt you to connect the donor ECU when required during the procedure.

For VAG ECUs and some other ECUs, a true 1:1 clone is not possible because the immobilizer data is stored in the OTP area. For these ECUs, you need to transfer the required data using one of the procedures mentioned above and then perform IMMO OFF or IMMO Sync on the ECU afterward.
