It may sounds daft but my specialise is car keys not doing coding/programming very often. Have possible job coming up. Car was purchased without keys and dme missing. Customer ordered new key by vin from dealer. CAS as far as customer aware wasn't touched. And customer ordered used match dme now. My question is how can I get isn to upload to used dme since original is missing? Don't want touch without having idea where to start and if is possible or no to do it. All help/advice appreciated

check first if it is cas4 or 4+.you can do that from key learning option if stating cas4 (EWS 5 active) it will be cas4+ then things will be harder for you.if cas4(EWS NOT ACTIVE) you can read cas eeprom using HEXTAG and get ISN.After getting ISN from cas write it to used DME(Mostly in ISN boot mode).

Will I be able to say if it's cas4 or 4+ just from cas itself without plugging to the car? or just by reading key supplied by dealer using my zedfull(it can distinguish if key is for cas4ews4 or cas4+ews5)?
I'm asking cos there is quite a distance to travel to the car and I would prefer guy send me cas for reading first so I can have everything ready when get to the car. I just have confirmation from customer after fitting used dme with key he have from dealer he can turn ignition on fine just obviously car not start.
I have spare cas4 at home which I did read with hextag and it does give 2 long 32 digits codes, one is say ISN other say Secret Key. which code should go to dme from this example reading, ISN or Secret Key if it's cas4? what would be the procedure with cas4+ ?

i have here a F10 M5 with CAS4+ (active) and has to learn a key.
read CAS with HexTAG without issues but in option key learning need AH ISN from DME.
read ISN from DME over OBD dont possible. Only with boot mode. but only for a key learn I certainly do not open the dme or make drill a hole.

-it turns up as car have no CAS too so both DME and CAS are missing! (key ordered from dealer somehow operate central lock)
-available second hand DME from different car
-available key ordered from dealer by vin to match missing cas and dme

now is there any sense looking for second hand cas4 to fit in and start with since I don't know which type was fitted(only what I know is 2 sockets box) or go for new cas from dealer and start with that?

In which case? not sure if you read whole topic? First thing I heard from customer there is original CAS in and he ordered key from dealer but wan't to code DME. but since then things change an he said CAS is missing too. So now he managed to get CAS and key from same car he get used DME. So now there is a set from other car available with working key. Now I can change vin in cas using hextag. But what to do next? Will this work and is way of coding it all together or no???? I need to know before I accept job. Last thing I want is accepting job travel 2h in traffic and find out is impossible when I get there.

With help of support, Autohex II can make a key to this CAS (without any ISN or a working key), then we change the ISN in that CAS to match the DME

Thank you. What you require from me to start? Read cas data? Dme isn will require boot mode or with resurrected cas I'll be able to flash dme trough obd to get isn?

get d- flash from cas and get isn from dme, of course you will need a blank key.
Retriving ISN from DME method may be done by obd or bench, depends of the dme update version.

Thank you very much. I'll try to source cas I need next few days and get that file. Also will ask guy to get me DME. Or is it worth it to go there and try to read isn trough obd, will it be possible without cas fitted or I need to fit any cas in to read it? Obviously would prefer to do trough obd without opening dme if possible

DME in F series requires ZGW ( or any gateway) and you must connect the flex ray between zgw and dme. Cas is not required.

Thank you than it will have to be done on bench in boot mode. I'll get back to you as soon as I get isn and flash from cas to be used. Does it matter wchich mask chip will be in cas or no? Any cas4+ 2 socket will do or must be same type as orginal from dme?
